Obituary for Ms. Ivy Clarke-Davis
In life we were given 2 book ends in the form of father & mother. Often many of us could prominently remember the role of our mother above all; we remember the role of ours! Strong, resilient, silent, noisy, passionate, resourceful, caring, kind, strong-willed, surprisingly talented & funny; a true Proverbs 31 woman!
Ms. Ivy Clarke-Davis is a native of Nevis, West Indies. One of 8 children born to Mr. Harry and Artemesia Clarke who preceded her in death. She is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruth Morton and Sylvia White, and 2 brothers, Ezekiel and Vincent.
Ivy immigrated to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, in 1962 and there she met and got married to her love, Mr. Emanuel Davis. They were married for 49 plus years; about 4 months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary before he preceded her in death.
Ivy gave birth to 9 children, 2 preceded her in death. She is survived by 3 brothers, Winston Clarke, of England, Austin Clarke of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Ronald Clarke of Nevis, West Indies.
Ivy is survived by 7 loving children, Mr. Dennis Clarke, Ms. Naomi Clarke, Mrs. Rupertha-carmen Latunde-Addey, Mrs. Sandra Gibson, Ms. Sharon Davis, Mr. Warren Davis, and Mr. Larry Davis.
From just about all of the off-springs listed above, 16 wonderful grandchildren came forth: Ms. Aurea T., Ms. Myesha Gilbert, Mr. Ola Bisi Latunde-Addey, Mr. Aaron Clarke, Mr. Judah Clarke, Ms. Cinzia Clarke, Mr. Ola Diran Latunde-Addey, Mr. Ola LeKan Latunde-Addey, Mr. Jovonte Gilbert, Mr. Roshawn Davis, Ms. Simone Davis, Mrs. Kenisha Todd, Mr. Keyron Zephir, Mr. Scott Benjamin, Jr., Mr. Joshua Benjamin, Miss Genesis Davis.
Ivy loved her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, and we want them to be reminded of their relevance and importance in the scheme of things.
From those grandchildren came 13 adorable and treasured great-grandchildren, Anacia, Lily, Malia, Bentley, Zion, Stacie, Royce, Carter, Cameron, A’keira, Lorainn, Lorelei, and Amaris. Topping it off is a gem of a great-great-grandchild, Harmony. Ivy has numerous beloved nieces and nephews around the world, from the British & US Virgin Islands, England, throughout the US and elsewhere.
Ivy worked at the Island Laundry in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and 16 years for the US Department of Education in food services.
Ivy was an active member of The Life Center Church in Eatonville, Florida. She was an awesome cook and baker, loved walking, gardening, singing, and often visited the sick in hospitals bringing them a glimmer of hope. She was a sincere intercessor and a mighty prayer warrior.
During the last days of her sojourn, Dennis, Sharon, and a beloved caregiver, Barbara Reed, were mom’s primary inhouse caregivers. They did an awesome job and we all are eternally grateful for their service of love. God has been faithful to this family and it is our prayers that you honor Him with your life.
Sleep on in peace mom as we remember the words that says, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, mourning, crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away. He that sits on the throne said, BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW”! – Revelations 21:4 & 5.
