Johnny Lewis Parker was born November 28, 1949, to Elisha Parker and Hazel Hook in Kingston (Lenore County), NC. He was the youngest son of a family of six siblings.
Johnny received his formal education from Aiken Senior High School, and after relocating to Brooklyn, NY (following his older brother and sister), he attended the New York School of Printing. A short time after he met and married Annetta Cobo, they had one child…….a daughter, Tira was born.
Johnny was a skilled printer, which was exhibited in the various companies where he was employed, operating their printing services department: Harper & Row (now HarperCollins), Philip Morris (now Altria), and after returning to North Carolina, working with The Justice Academy, retiring in June of 2021. And who can forget his second home (well, he had two), Atlantic City, NJ, and Las Vegas, NV!!
Johnny was an avid bowler who participated in numerous bowling leagues and even won a few trophies. For a short time, he joined Harper & Row’s Softball team. He even tried his hand at spinning records and had a chance to DJ a few house parties.
Johnny accepted Christ and was baptized at The Church at Clayton Crossings in Clayton, NC, in July 2013.
Johnny is preceded in death by brother Elisha (aka Spook), sisters Annie Dell Parker-Black, Marie Thomas, Floretha Toodle, and most recently, Evangeline (aka Van) Smith.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Tira Kimwana Parker and his three grandchildren, Sydney Louise, Isaiah Lewis, and Kenya London, whom he LOVED spoiling at every opportunity he got…….and he made no excuses for it!!
Nieces: Esther, Yolanda (aka Yogie), Keisha, Christal (aka Chrissy), and Brianna. Nephews: Anthony (aka Ant), Theodore, and David, Jr (aka Junior,) as well as a host of grand nieces, nephews, family, and friends
