Obituary of Leroy Smith

Leroy Smith was born in Sumter S. C. on January 9, 1937, to the late Herman and Juanita Smith. His family moved to Cambridge MA in 1940. Leroy was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church Cambridge MA. He attended the Cambridge public school system, after high school he served in the U.S. Army for 3 years, after active military duty he attended several electronic school and Fisher College.

Later he met and married Peggy Odessa Horner (deceased) of Boston MA and this union produced four children. Leroy worked for Polaroid Corp as an Instrumentation and Electrical Specialist for over 27 years before retiring in October 1998. Leroy later married Veronica Thompson who predeceased him in death

Leroy was a Prince Hall Mason, and a member of Castle William Lodge #11, St. Philips Chapter #3, Lewis Hayden Commandery #1, Holy Sepulchers Consistory #17 and Syria Temple #31.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories three sons Rev. Lawrence Smith and wife Michele Brathwaite- Smith of Stoughton, MA, Rev. David B. Smith and wife Succes D. Smith of Richmond, CA and Stephan Smith and wife Tammy Smith of Pembrooke, MA, one daughter Michelle Smith of Nashua NH., and one stepdaughter Cynthia Washington of Nashua NH. Sisters Dottie Barbour and husband Frankie Barbour of Stoughton MA, and Eva Haynes of Brockton MA, and brother Raymond Smith of Canton MA. Two siblings that predeceased Leroy in death, Fannie Hardman, and Alford Smith.

Leroy also leaves a legacy of fourteen grandchildren, Adrain Smith and wife Desiree Smith of San Deigo, CA, Nina Smith of Stoughton, MA, Logan Smith of Brockton, MA, Taylor Smith-Maclellan and husband Kevin Maclellan of Waterville, ME and Shelby Smith of San Deigo, CA. Cedrick C Dabney (deceased), Stacey Faett and husband Christopher Faett of Seymour, CT, Kimberly Whittaker and husband Keith Whittaker of Nashua, NH, Randy Dabney and wife Giani Dabney of Sumter, SC, Keshonda Marie Smith of Brockton MA, Stephan Herman Smith Jr of Brockton MA. Benjimen Pearl Smith of Pembrooke, MA, William Edward Washington and wife Nicole Washington of Manchester, NH and Tyisha Michelle Washington of Nashua, NH.

Twenty-eight Great grandchildren, Xavior Luz, Joshua Veal, Aleigha Bryan, Raelynn Castillo-Smith, Brooklynn Smith, Anthony Lawrence Smith, Leon Michael Smith, Royal Leon Anthony Welch, Ronnie Lawrence Alanso Welch Jr. Anariyah P. Smith, Jasimine M. Smith, Alexandra Dow, Roman Michael Hampton-Brown, Luca Maclellan, Cedrick Steve. Dabney Jr. Andra Leroy Dabney, Adryana Janay Faett, Nova Leshell Faett, Elijah David Dabney, Levi Herman Dabney, Naomi Michelle Whittaker, Julius Tank Dabney, Axl Othniel Dabney, Randy Dabney Jr. Beric Cedrick Dabney. Kamora Odessa Dabney, Melody Kadance Dabney, and Zoe Odessa Washington.

As well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
