Walter Edward “Walt” Hardy, 65, passed away on November 3, 2025, in Mulberry, Florida. Born on January 16, 1960, in Sebring, Florida, he was the youngest son of nine children born to Joseph Solomon Hardy and Betty Jean Hardy.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Jackie Hardy-Casby, Betty Jean Hardy, and Cheryl Lynn Hardy. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving family: daughter Damika Smith, sisters Margaret Hardy-McCollum and Bonita Hardy -Smith; and brothers Terry Jackson, John Jackson, and Reggie Hardy.
Known affectionately as “Walt,” he was a beloved brother and friend whose generous spirit touched many lives. Whether offering his last dollar or simply lending a listening ear, Walter gave selflessly. His kindness was not just spoken—it was lived.
Walter had a remarkable talent for cooking that made him the heart of family gatherings. His culinary skills were sought after not only in fine hotels and restaurants where he worked but also at home, where no meal felt complete without his input. His food brought people together, creating spaces filled with warmth and laughter.
He had a vibrant personality—smart, articulate, and full of life. Walter loved good food shared among loved ones, music that stirred the soul, and laughter that filled a room. As a child he excelled at basketball; as an adult he carried that same strength and independence throughout his life.
His signature greeting—“Good morning ya’ll”—captured the warmth and Southern charm that defined him. Walter’s presence lit up every room he entered.
May Walter’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of generosity and love in all who carry him in their hearts.
