Obituary for Pauline Thomas

My beloved mother, Pauline F. Thomas sadly passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the age of 90 years old. She was an amazing mother, who was always there for her children. She was also well-loved by many friends that she met over the years through her work as a teacher and singing in her church choir.

Pauline F. Thomas was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. She graduated from Jones High School in 1951 and continued her education by attending Florida A&M University. She majored in Music with a concentration in voice and classical piano. While attending Florida A&M University, she sang in the choir and traveled throughout the state giving performances. After graduation, she started out her career as a music teacher and eventually moved into Elementary Education. Over the years, she lived in New York and Miami, but moved back to her hometown of Orlando that she loved dearly.

She was a loving mother and liked to spend time relaxing, watching TV and attending church. She enjoyed good food, watching the Orlando Magic and listening to classical music.

Pauline F. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents Oliver Ford and Beatrice Ford and her son Darian Y. Jones. She is survived by her daughter Nona Thomas, who will miss her deeply.

The viewing will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4-6pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, starting at 2:00pm. The viewing and the service will be held at Mitchell’s Funeral Home.

Ms. Pauline was a gem. Our family has many treasured memories of our rides to and from church. It was also a joy to sing in the 125 member Choir with her. She is gone but definitely not forgotten. Our family stands with you dearest Nona. Your Mom was always proud of you. As you look in the mirror each day may you see her looking back at you and may her words of wisdom continue to ring in your heart. You are loved.
